Government
Ancient Egypt wasn't just about living. They had their own government that consisted of leaders, judges, courts, all kinds of things we have today!
There were a few pharaohs that everybody knows about, like King Tutankhamen. The ancient government was run mainly by Pharaohs. For example, when King Narmer, or King Scorpion was pharaoh, Upper and Lower Egypt were still separate. When he became pharaoh, he decided to join them into union.
Laws in Ancient Egypt were based off of common sense of right an wrong. Basically, everybody knew that killing and murder were socially unacceptable. So, very rarely did that happen. Maat was the goddess of truth and justice, so she was the symbol of the court and the government. The Vizier in charge of laws and justice was called the Priest of Maat. Later in time, judges of Ancient Egypt wore masks, costumes, and images of Maat.
