Regions
Ancient Egypt has some interesting regions in it. Upper Egypt, Lower Egypt, Giza, and Memphis. All of these places have their own unique story behind them.
Ancient Egyptians thought they had to split up into two areas. They divided into Upper and Lower Egypt, with Lower Egypt being North, near the Nile Delta into the Mediterranean Sea, and Upper Egypt in the center, near Thebes and the Valley of the Kings.
Upper Egypt - This section of Egypt was south of modern day Cairo. It was represented by a White Crown, called the Hedjet, depicting images of the flowering lotus and the sedge. This area of Ancient Egypt held the famous Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, the Pyramids being one of the Seven Man Made Wonders of the World.
Lower Egypt - This section of Egypt was very close to the Nile Delta, which opened into the Mediterranean Sea, and the Shipping Canal, which was used for shipping goods, people, and ideas to other parts of the world. The capital of Lower Egypt was Memphis, and it was symbolized by a Low Red Crown, called the Deshret, depicting images of a bee and papyrus.
Giza - The most famous city in Egypt other than Cairo, Giza holds the famous Pyramids of Giza, making the list of the Seven Man Made Wonders of the World.
Memphis - Memphis was not as popular as Giza, but it was the capital of Lower Egypt. the Shipping Canal ran through it, making it a very important trade route in Egypt.
